Like Children...
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, 'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?'
He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes on of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'"
Strong words that come straight out of Matthew 18:1-6. This passage stuck out to me on my recent reading of Matthew. As we see their little faces enter Elevate each weekend, it can be easy to forget the potential that each child holds. How can I have the faith to become like them? What would it be like to trust Him completely and hold nothing back?
Isn't it interesting to read how welcoming a child and leading a child astray are so closely associated with welcoming the Lord and with bringing wrath from Him. God loves these children, and we have been entrusted with them as parents, teachers, and friends. May we strive to live up to the challenge.
Don't forget the HD Crew meeting this Thursday, July 24th at 6:30pm in Elevate. Make every effort to attend, as important topics including promotion weekend and service changes will be discussed in full detail!
I will see you this weekend for part #3 of Ready. Set. Go.!
