Take a deep breath.

"It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy."  Romans 9:16

Can I get an Amen?  Sometimes it's just so refreshing to take a deep sigh and give up.  Maybe you've felt like me recently.  With all the work before and during the Easter celebration it was easy to get caught up in the doing.  I had lists of tasks to accomplish and the success of that work pretty much determined my mood throughout the day.  Somehow I had convinced myself that my labor was all that the Lord desired, forgetting that he has asked for my heart above all else.  Ever heard the phrase:  "we are beings, not doings"?  Perhaps we might consider that it is our desperation for the Lord rather than our determination that pleases him.

If you find yourself running ragged and allowing your contentment to be based on your task list accomplishments then consider the pattern of Jesus time and again throughout scripture:

"Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest!"  Mark 6:31

Take a deep breath and give it up... to him.

See you this weekend!
